I’ve been getting a lot of messages about my wedding guest look that I posted on Instagram this past week. My favorite part about the makeup, besides the amazing work that my makeup artist Kip Zachary did with the fun eyeshadow and glow, was my lashes.
I’m a girl who doesn’t like to leave the house without my mascara on. Lashes are everything to me. When I do my own makeup, I like to use the perfect mascara. My favorite is Better Than Sex by Too Faced.
If I put on my own makeup for a big event like a red carpet or a wedding, I like to mix in Ardell’s lash trios.
If I really want to kick it up a notch, I go for Lilly Lashes. Lilly is my good friend, and I love what she’s done with her company. I remember when she started it, and love how many different varieties of lashes she offers.
The one lash I’m obsessed with right now is the Ash Kholm lash. I just love the feathery look it has, and the way it lays on the eyes. It lends the perfect drama without being overwhelming.
Sometimes I see people with crazy lashes on and it looks like there’s a party going on in the lashes themselves. I think it’s a really good time for makeup when there’s such a variety of lashes you can choose.
I remember the first time I wore makeup. I was 16 years old and went to the local MAC counter. There was only one lash strip available to buy. It was such a simple strip, but it was a big deal to wear lashes. Now applying lashes has become so easy for people like me who are not makeup artists but love to look good.
People always ask me about eyelash extensions. Although I love the way they look, I’ve found them to be damaging. I usually lose a lot of eyelashes when I use extensions. I don’t use them anymore because it’s easier for me to apply strips whenever I please.
The one exception to my rule about not using eyelash extensions is when I’m on vacation. I don’t like to take too much makeup with me when I travel, and I don’t want to do a lot of work if I’m on vacation. With eyelash extensions, I can wake up and go about my day without worrying about putting makeup on.
