In 2019 something that I want to push more in my life is to evolve as a human being. The past 5 years, I have been on this spiritual journey to be a better person, good wide, good friend, good mom and the list goes on.
Life is hard and we get so much thrown at us at once at times. One thing I have learned is that in order to be able to survive in this world whether personally or professionally it is very important to EVOLVE.
I get asked a lot what my secret to my success is and the answer is pretty simple…I like to evolve every year. I don’t like to keep doing the same thing that I did one year ago, I like to know that every year I learn life lessons and evolve on to the next challenge.
Here are some tips on how you can incoprarte what I am doing in your personal and professional life in order to live a life with meaning and find true happiness. Sometimes I meet successful people who are so angry and bitter with their life and the reality is, they are not content. It’s important to find content in whatever you do in life and focus on all the blessings instead of all the lack of what you don’t have.
Lesson 1:
The first lesson that I have learned in my life is when you make a mistake own it and learn from it and move on. It’s important to first own your mistake instead of fight it, then its important to know what valuable lesson you took away from the mistake and next its important to surrender to your faults and move on. The worst part of making a mistake is hanging on to the fail. Focusing so much on the fail instead of focusing on the valuable lesson you learned.
Lesson 2:
In order to evolve you must keep educating yourself in whatever field you are in. A lot of people get stuck in their own ways. With technology these days, things are moving so fast. One skill that you learn can become extinct in a matter of 5 years. It is important to learn how to evolve with the times and educate yourself in order to keep growing. For example, I lost a job for a hosting gig to an actress, so I decided to take on acting. I started to take acting classes for one year in secret. One year later I landed myself a movie role. It is important to learn a new skill and own it. What was I supposed to do, sit there and cry that I didn’t get a hosting job because there was someone else who was better for the job? No, I decided to take action and learn a new skill.
Lesson 3:
Oprah Winfrey who has been my role model since I was a little girl has an amazing quote. She says, “Evolve into the complete person you were intended to be.” I try to listen to a lot of podcasts like Super Soul Sunday and How I Built This, in order to evolve. It is important to keep learning and growing. I have been trying to educate my mind spiritually by reading a lot of books, meeting with Shamans and just trying to learn and grow as much as I can.
Lesson 4:
“Look around you. Everything changes. everything on this earth is in a continuous state of evolving, refining, improving, adapting, enhancing, and changing. You were not put on this earth to remain stagnant.” Dr. Steve Mataboli This quote speaks to me well, the world is constantly changing and evolving. In order for you not to drown, you must evolve. Sometimes we get so stuck on the old ways of doing things. Don’t be intimated about your age, education or background. Get yourself out there and do what you must do to survive. Let go of the fear and let go of the ego.
Lesson 5:
Your hardest days will make you your strongest. A diamond is made with pressure, when you understand the concept that during your hardest times you develop your best version of yourself, then you won’t get so caught up in the negative. I love this quote by Sarah Addison Allen that says, “She understood that the hardest times in life to go through were when you were transitioning from one version of yourself to another.” Every time I have failed, I have had a major setback, it has set me up for something greater and bigger than I have every imagined. So embrace the failure and learn and grow. Every time i have failed, I have worked 10 times harder to succeed. Sometimes we get so comfortable that we need reality checks like failure to wake up.
In closing, in order to evolve you must be ready for change. Don’t get so caught up with the past, learn to evolve and change. Your past doesn’t define you, learn to grow and constantly be a better version of yourself. I love you guys and thank you for helping me evolve with my blog posts and I can’t wait to give you guys more of me this year.
