Fast Workout: 6 Fitness Tools for an At-Home Workout

| Family

With a 2-year-old and a 5-month-old, it’s been impossible for me to find time to go to the gym. I want to lose my pregnancy weight, but there’s no time to leave the house.

Even though I never have an hour at a time to work out, it’s important to find moments in the day for exercise. So I exercise every chance I get, even if it’s only five minutes here and 10 minutes there. Here are some tips on how you can work out at home, even with limited time.

1. Use kids as free weights

I schedule my life around the kids, so now I incorporate them into my workouts. If you guys follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen me using them as weights, or them joining in during my workouts. If your kids want your attention when you’re exercising at home, why not add them to your workout?

2. Try Kettlebells

I recently bought a kettlebell at Marshall’s. I keep it in my office and at home and, whenever I have a free moment, I do three sets of 20 kettlebell exercise reps. I recently had Victoria’s Secret model Josephine Skriver on my show teach me how to do some kettlebell workouts.

3. Exercise Everywhere

Josephine also gave me great tips to not cheat my way around exercise opportunities. E.g., instead of taking the elevator, I walk up the stairs. I try to walk more often now in general.

4. Roll Out the Yoga Mat

Sometimes it feels good to just stretch. Every morning, I meditate and stretch my body with the “cobra” and “baby” yoga poses. Even just five minutes of stretching makes a big difference to my mind and body.

5. Lift Dumbbells

I have two 5-pound dumbbells at home and in the office to keep my core and arms in shape.

6. Jump Rope

I keep a jump rope in my house and, every chance I get, I use it for five to 10 minutes straight.

Try to make time to work out your body at every opportunity. That’s my best advice for anyone who’s busy working around the clock or running after their kids.
