Hey, Diana-Mites!
I am so happy to announce that I have given birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. Meet Christian Peter Attipa. He was born on Dec. 12, 2017 at 7:13 p.m., weighing 7 pounds 4 ounces.
The delivery process was intense, but a lot easier than my first time. Since my son was born on Frank Sinatra’s birthday, my doctor told us to play Frank Sinatra music during the delivery. After 45 minutes of pushing, my son finally came out. The most interesting part of this story is the song that was playing when he arrived in this world was “My Way.” My doctor said, “Let’s hope he comes out to this song.” Literally, Christian came out to the last two words of the song: “My way.” It was such a magical moment, and I wish we’d filmed it because it was something you’d expect to see only in a movie.
So what is it like being a mother of two? I wish I could say it’s a piece of cake, it is very, very challenging. I’m overwhelmed trying to figure out who I need to give more attention to: Collette, Christian or my dog, Duke. It seems like everyone wants attention from me, and I have no idea how to handle it. I feel like I’m failing as a mother by not giving 100 percent to both Collette and Christian. Not to mention it’s only been a week since my delivery, and I’m still in my recovery process. What us women go through. We are superhuman!
Regardless of how difficult it is caring for two kids, every single time I look at Christian or Collette, I forget my pain and struggles. It’s the strangest thing. I’ll be in chaos, but the second my child looks at me and smiles, my worries melt away.
During the past week, I’ve been very fortunate to have my close family helping me out with my every need. It definitely takes a village to raise two kids. Thank God for my husband, mom and mother-in-law. They have been so helpful, and I couldn’t imagine doing all this by myself.
No matter how difficult my duties as a mother get, it’s the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. I never thought I would love being a mother so much. I can’t wait to see what 2018 holds for all of us.
If any moms are reading this, please leave comments below about how I can handle two children. I would love to hear your thoughts.
Love always,
Diana XOXO
